Driving to the airport: Germany
Driving to a German airport, you need neither a vignette nor a toll tag: the motorway toll applies only to goods vehicles above a weight threshold, and cars pay none.
Some cities still run low-emission zones (Umweltzonen), each marked by a sign where it begins. Inside one, a car must display the green emissions sticker (grüne Plakette) on its windscreen unless it is exempt, and the same goes for cars registered abroad. A single sticker is valid in every zone in Germany. Vehicle registration offices, inspection bodies such as TÜV and DEKRA and authorised garages issue it, and it can also be ordered online and sent by post. More and more cities have lifted their zones, so look up whether the cities on your route still have one.
